Mike Savage

The saying goes that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree and father, Kevin Savage and son, Mike Savage are no exception. Both are brilliant at ensuring prime time entertainment for MPowerFM listeners.

Mike Savage will be coming to listeners from the MPowerFM Witbank studio and oh boy, will this be good! Mike has a very lively personality and brings a can do attitude to the show.

Mike describes himself as an intense, outgoing and passionate person and is always up for a laugh. One might even add creative as he likes long walks on the beach, rainbows, and unicorns on rollerskates… “with lazer beams for horns,” he adds.

After hours Mike enjoys putting his feet up on the couch with the TV on. On a serious note, he says he actually loves cooking, and most nights he can be found in front of the stove. He listens to all types of music and says that if the beat is good enough to make you tap your feet and the vocal connects with your soul, you have a song worth hearing.

Mike says he simply loves sushi, oysters and seafood in general. “But this is where I get to score brownie points, so for the record: “Whatever my darling cooks”. Mike says. True to the manly religion of sport, Mike likes all sport. “Sport is essential to human development and has been from the dawn of humanity. Humanity thrives on combat, but thanks to certain laws that some clever people thought up a few hundred years ago, we are no longer allowed to kill each other for fun… (think Gladiator) So these days we play sport instead, which is just a donned term for non – lethal combat. Ok can I stop being boring now?”

He reads fictional thrillers, anything by Tony Park or Tom Clancy. Then on the other end of the scale he is currently reading Deepak Chopra and says he finds the way he thinks fascinating. His favourite movies include classics like Top Gun, Inglorious Basterds and The Godfather. “I would love to have been a fighter pilot with a baseball bat to ‘present an offer that nobody can refuse’.

Further, Mike dislikes warm beer (ugh!) and fake people but thinks Jack Johnson, Howard Stern and Billy Connolly are worth having a chat and a drink with.

So now that we know what type of brilliant mind we are dealing with the question remains, what is Mike's hidden talent? “The first rule of being a ninja is to tell no-one that you are a ninja… so I have no idea what you are talking about.”

For the most ass kicking time of your day be sure not to miss Mike Savage only on MPowerFM at the Ridge, Emalahleni.
