Mark Mountjoy
Businessman, Mark Mountjoy has a hidden talent that few other businessmen have, he can talk the talk! Mark has his very own radio show Saturdays on MPowerFM. This follows him winning the Top Jock Search in 2009 and landing him a spot on commercial radio.
“Winning the Top Jock Search was in one word, sublime! It gave me the opportunity to raise my opinion and views about various issues and have the public interact with me. Truly a dream come true for me,” Mark says.
In the last four years since Mark joined the MPowerFM family, and he and his wife are raising a 4-year-old daughter. He even quit smoking but one thing he says he will never quit is bringing MPowerFM listeners the best Mark Mountjoy has to offer.
Born in Fishoek, Mark later in his life studied finances and today can add a National Certificate in Financial Planning, another certificate in Wealth Management and the NQF6 in Financial Planning to his name. He has worked for Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge, Sanlam and Standard Bank to name a few. Currently he also works as a FXCM Forex Trader.
But come Saturday, one can hear the joy in Mr. Mountjoy’s voice when presenting the 12:00 to 15:00 show on Saturday on MPOWERFM. “It’s radio baby! What can be better?!” he says.
Mark lives by the philosophy that one must be the change you would like to see and on this note he always encourages a positive mental attitude in others.
At home and away from the office, Mark likes to eat seafood, meat and vegetables. His hobbies include gym, sport, charity and socializing and prefer to watch cricket and rugby. He also likes spending quality family time by having picnics in the garden.
Scare Tactics and Two and a half men are his favorite television shows while he also likes to read financial books like the Art of Profitability, Rich Dad, Poor Dad and of course the Financial Times.
He descries himself as above average and believes in the power of the mind. So what can such a positive person like Mark possibly dislike? “I don’t like people who are looking for change at toll gates. Anything involving waiting to spend your own money,” he says.
It is interesting to note that the dark and handsome Mountjoy has some French, Irish and Italian blood running through his veins. Trop bonno!
